Ariadne Interconnection | Crete–Attica

Powering a new era of energy connectivity.

The Ariadne Interconnection is a landmark energy infrastructure project connecting Crete to mainland Greece, strengthening the reliability of the national electricity grid and supporting the country’s transition towards a more sustainable energy future.

As part of this major development, A&G Powering Construction undertook critical electrical works at the Aspropyrgos converter station, contributing to the infrastructure required for the transmission of electricity between Crete and Attica.

The challenge

The Ariadne Interconnection is a major energy infrastructure project connecting Crete to mainland Greece through a high-voltage electricity transmission system.

A&G participated in the installation of the substation system and high-voltage infrastructure at Aspropyrgos, contributing to a technically demanding project with complex installation requirements.

  • A critical high-voltage project. Electrical works forming part of the infrastructure supporting electricity transmission between Crete and Attica.
  • Complex system integration. Installation activities requiring coordination between the substation system, high-voltage infrastructure and the wider project works.
  • Precision and safety. Delivering electrical works in a high-voltage environment with careful attention to technical specifications, installation quality and safe working practices.

Our approach

A&G focused on the coordinated execution of its electrical works, contributing to the installation of the substation system and associated high-voltage infrastructure at Aspropyrgos.

Working alongside the wider project team, we aligned our activities with the technical requirements and construction programme of this large-scale energy development.

  • Coordinated execution of substation and high-voltage electrical works.
  • Close collaboration with the wider project team.
  • Attention to technical specifications, safety and installation quality.
  • Structured delivery within the overall construction programme.

What we delivered

  • Participation in the installation of the substation system at Aspropyrgos.
  • Electrical installation works associated with the project’s high-voltage infrastructure.
  • Supporting electrical works within the Crete–Attica Interconnection project.
  • Coordinated execution as part of a large-scale national energy infrastructure development.
